Losing weight is one of the best things that you can do to improve your health and overall levels of wellbeing. When you lose weight you lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels as well as reducing the risk of diabetes, heart disease and some forms of cancer. But with many weight loss products available on the market its knowing where to start that can be quite daunting.
Choose good weight loss programmes that focus on healthy eating and include all the major food groups. It should not be too calorie restrictive or you will not have enough energy to make it through the day. The ideal way to lose weight is at a slow, steady rate of between 1-2 pounds each week. A weight loss plan that promises dramatic weight loss should be treated with caution as large losses in weight can affect your metabolism and cause other health issues.
Have a look at these 5 small changes that you can include in your diet and lifestyle, they will help you to lose fat steadily, without turning your life upside down:
1. A good breakfast is important, like wholegrain toast or wholegrain cereal topped with fruit. If you think that skipping breakfast is a good way of saving calories, you would be wrong - it will lead to eating and snacking more during the day.
2. Each meal should include at least one serving of fruit or vegetables, as these will leave less room for junk foods.
3. Reduce large portions of food by 10%, and if it helps use a smaller plate or dish - psychologically you will not notice, remember less is more!
4. Reduce the amount of fizzy drinks and alcohol in your diet, as they are full of empty calories that do nothing to fill you up. Replace them with water and fruit or vegetable juices. Have a slice of lemon in a mug of hot water in the morning as this can work wonders too, and if you like a bit of zip, why not squeeze in a little lemon also?
5. The recommended amount of exercise is as little as 30 minutes, 3-4 times each week, but more is great if you can find the time. Any exercise will be of benefit to you, it needs to get your heart rate up and leave you feeling out of breath, but not so much that you cannot talk. If you exercise with a group of people, whether it is cycling, tennis, badminton or even joining a dance class,it can be much more enjoyable. It is not just the social element that makes it more fun but also makes it harder to ‘duck out’ if you have just had one of those days. The key is, the more exercise you do the more calories you will burn.
So whether you’re a full time mum or have a demanding career, losing pounds will help to boost energy levels and improve your confidence and self-esteem.

EASY WAYS TO LOSE WEIGHT – THE 5 GOLDEN RULES
It’s little wonder why so many women are looking for easy ways to lose weight, because most of us know that losing it is one of the best things we can do to improve our health and overall levels of wellbeing. The benefits are enormous, including lowering our blood pressure and cholesterol levels, as well as our risk of diabetes, heart disease and some forms of cancer to name but a few.
But for many, the real attraction is to have benefits that can actually be seen – knowing how great you will look in that killer dress you always fancied, or perhaps having the courage to tie that sarong a foot lower next time you are on holiday!
Ok, so you may have decided you want to find easy ways to lose weight, but with so many different weight-loss programmes out there, it is pretty daunting knowing how to pick the right one, isn’t it? Well, the good news is that just by using some of the following Golden Rules, you will be able to weed out the ones that won’t work for you, and be on the best possible start for your journey.
Golden Rule No.1: A single magic weight-loss programme that works for anyone is rare, and the very simple reason for this is because not everyone is looking for the same thing. Slashing a few unwanted pounds just before you go away on holiday requires a very different approach than for someone who wants to change their life and lose several stone permanently. Be very clear with yourself about what you want to achieve.
Golden Rule No.2: Although there are a few exceptions, generally ‘quick’ and ‘easy’ do not go well together, The chances are that if you need to lose weight ‘quickly’ you are going to be asked to make some fairly major and radical changes to your life, and a very good chance that is not going to be very ‘easy’!
If all you want to do is lose a few pounds quickly before you go on holiday, there is nothing wrong with this approach, as long as you accept your weight loss will only last as long as your resolve to turn you life upside down does!
Golden Rule No.3: If you want to lose a substantial amount of weight permanently, losing it at a slow, steady rate is the best way to go – a loss of 1-2 pounds each week is ideal. Be honest with yourself – if you have to make radical changes to your life that you know you could never live with on a permanent basis, then it is hardly surprising if you do not get a permanent result.
Golden Rule No.4: Do not ignore your mind! Although there are various reasons why you may have put weight on in the first place, the majority of poor food choices and eating habits are often as a result of your emotional state and the relationship your mind has formed with food. Any weight-loss programme that does not help your mind to form a healthy relationship with food is unlikely to give you a permanent result, because good old fashioned will-power just does not work!
Golden Rule No.5: Do not be afraid to look for help and support. Any weight-loss programme that just offers a sale without telling you much about it first should be viewed with caution. If it is that good and gives you permanent results, they will be happy to give you plenty of free help before you start, and ideally some support once you do.
